Lightning Detector Wiring + Arduino Code

WRENCH ARMY EXCLUSIVE | PART 1: FRANKEN-LIGHTNING DETECTOR

IT’S ALIVE! We can’t bring our creations to life without lightning! To celebrate this iconic monster movie element we’re going to incorporate a real AS3935 lightning detector as part of our Frankstein-inspired gothic cathedral window display to alert us when a storm is approaching. The AS3935 is capable of detecting lightning up to 40 km away with an accuracy of 1km to the storm front with an antenna tuned to pick up lightning events in the 500kHz band. The first step is to figure out how to wire the detector to the Arduino UNO and then we’ll take a look at the main code blocks to fine tune it for our environment.

Do you want to build your own Franken-lightning detector?

The project plans for this entire project will be available soon!
