Painting our Giant Spider Thorax

FULL STREAM | PART 3: GIANT WEB-SHOOTING SPIDER

Last week we block carved our spider thorax and head out of insulation foam to get the basic shapes. I finished up the details and have it ready for us to give it a realistic creepy paint job along with adding hair plugs that will help the thorax transition to the furry abdomen!

We mainly focused on the back plates leading to the abdomen because I’ll be carving out areas for the eyes on the head. The hair plugs were made from hair extensions I found in the Halloween costume section of the dollar store. I cut tufts and hot glued the bottoms to create a plug. We only did a few to see if it would work and they looked great so I’ll be making many more to cover the back of the thorax.
