Thrift Store Nightstand Leg Swap and Facelift

FULL STREAM | PART 3: MID-CENTURY PHONEBOOTH/WORKSTATION UPCYCLE

We’re picking up where we left off on the bottom portion of our phonebooth/workstation upcycle project.

We managed to get the metal legs off the school desk but they didn’t quite fit the bottom of our nightstand because it had legs of its own.  With all the bottom support pieces off, we now have the clearance we need. To reinforce the bottom, we’ll use a piece of 3/4″ plywood.

The only thing left to do is saw off the existing particle board legs from the dresser so it doesn’t look like I just stuck a nightstand on some random metal legs. After that we’ll be taking this dresser from the 80s to the 50s by filling in the channels along the front face with 1/4″ plywood as work towards a more mid-century modern style. A little wood filler on top of that and some sanding should give us a smooth and flush front face.

Will this Frankenstein thrift store creation work?
